F.A.Q
Does Microblading hurt?
Everyone has a different pain threshold. A lot of clients say it feels similar to having threading done! It isn’t pain free as the procedure is invasive but some clients say its slightly uncomfortable rather than painful. Most clients think the pain is going to be a lot worse than it actually is!
How often do you recommend having top ups?
To maintain the shape and colour of your brows, we suggest coming back for a top up every 8-12 months. This can vary due to how well the pigment is retained by your skin type. The brows without a top up can last 18 months – 3 years but you will lose the shape and pigment. After 24 months the cost of your brows will be equivalent to a new set.
Can I choose my own brow colour?
At the start of your appointment, we have a thorough consultation with clients where we can discuss colour options together, desired shape of the brows, areas you want us to work on / enhance and then we will talk you through the whole treatment. We have a range of different pigments to cater for all!
How many visits are needed?
visits are required to perfect your cosmetic SPMU procedure. As part of the healing process after your first visit, the colour of your brows will soften and lighten up to 30% which is why a ‘4-6 week top appointment’ is needed. I would advise you to book this in advance / at the same time as booking your first appointment to avoid disappointment should I be fully booked up in advance. In addition, at your second appointment, small edits can be made, colour can be adjusted, and shape can be altered slightly.
What is the healing process?
We advise dry healing (not getting your eyebrows wet) for 14 days. This includes no sweating & no exercise so please organise your daily schedule appropriately. For showering we advise you to tilt your head back when washing your hair to avoid getting your eyebrows wet.
Your eyebrows will go through a 4 week healing process which is why the top up can not be done any earlier than this. You may find your brows are more dark within the first 5-10 days, then they will flake and the true colour will appear over the total 4 week healing period. We will provide you with detailed after care information after your appointment including DOs & DON’Ts, it is vital you follow this advice to ensure the best results from your procedure. We will also provide you with aftercare ointment to put on your eyebrows 2-3 times a day for the first 2 weeks.
How long does it last?
The lamination which is the ‘lift’ of the eyebrows can last 8-12 weeks although this depends on the hair cycle of your eyebrows / how fast they grow and providing the correct after care has been followed.
Can I get my brows laminated earlier, say after 6 weeks?
I refuse to laminate clients earlier than 8 weeks especially if there is visible ‘lift’ in the eyebrows as this could damage the hairs. For us to re-laminate again there must be no visible lift in the hairs.
Are the hairs stuck / glued in position?
The hairs are not fixed in a position or stuck to your skin – although this is the case for the first 48 hours whilst they set with the final solution on them from your appointment, once washed after 48 hours your brows will feel like normal brow hairs again soft and fluffy – they will be ready to be brushed into your desired shape.
When can I put fake tan on?
You should avoid having fake tan on the skin 3 days before and 3 days after as it can cause a chemical reaction with the tint, you risk having green eyebrows and when we wax, you will be left with paler patches.
